About Us

Houston International Ballet Academy is a private classical ballet school. Located in League City, Texas, it was founded in 2004 by director Kathleen Waltz.

The Academy is dedicated solely to the art of classical ballet and theater training. We offer classes at all levels and are a year round program. Our cirriculum includes three divisions: the Children's Program; the Youth Program; and the Pre-Professional Program.

Students of the Academy are trained in the Vaganova technique, method, syllabus, and protocol by Ms. Waltz. This is the technique of the Kirov and Bolshoi Ballet Academies in Russia and is the foremost technique in classical ballet training.

Class sizes are limited to ensure that every student receives correction and is capable of executing the syllabus for their level. Students are required to attend all classes at their level in order to properly progress. Students are also required to perform in annual demonstration/exam classes at the end of each semester. New students entering the Academy must audition for proper class placement.

Current and former students of the Academy have been accepted and scholarshiped into noted ballet programs such as; the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington D.C.; Washington Ballet School; American Ballet Theater Academy, Joffrey Ballet School; Gelsey Kirkland's Intensive Program, Colorado Ballet and the University of Utah.. We also mentor students who are striving for scholarships into a College or University Dance Program.
